Believers have described their churches to us as "fluff", or
"country clubs". We know what they mean, because we have been to those kinds of
churches.
True believers, even new ones, will very soon realize that there is
something wrong in churches that are "country clubs", just nice places to gather
and to socialize. What are they missing? True worship. They will sense that
they are missing something, even if they don't know what it is, but they will know
that these people are just doing what other people do, and calling it church.
When we say "fluff", we are referring to churches that never
discuss anything serious, SIN is almost never mentioned, there is no sense of the
awesomeness of God, nor His judgments. As a result, believers may attend these
churches for a long time, and see many happy people, but never experience the
joy that comes from knowing the justification provided by God for those He loves.
How can you tell? Some clues would be that you are reminded
more of a "show" or a performance than the old testament pictures of approaching
God in the tabernacle or temple. Also, there is frequently no sense of conviction of
sin, and no proclamation of Jesus wonderful work.
Think of it this way, Is God the audience, or are you? God is
the one we (believers) are coming to, and He is the one to whom worship is due.
Are we (singular) there to be "moved", or are we (plural) there to offer
something (corporately) to Him? (see "Pronouns)"

love to help in this matter.
