Are you a Christian? A believer in the Lord Jesus Christ?
I hear a lot of people "say" they are a believer, but are they?
How could you ever know?
Well, oddly enough, if you are one, you can know, but you
might not. And
if you aren't one, you can't know (without God illuminating you), but you
will know there is a God (whether you think so or not--there are no atheists).
But...
If you use anything other than the Bible as your standard,
let me know what it is and we will go from there.
But if you use the Bible as the standard, you can, as the
apostle Paul said, no, commanded, in 2 Corinthians 13:5, that you
"examine yourselves to see whether
you are in the faith."
With this as your basis, you can ask yourself:
Am I following the commandments? (do I know them)?
Do I fellowship with other believers?
Do I "in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds"? Titus 2:7
Do I hate my sin?
Am I obeying what Jesus has commanded? (do you even know His commands?)
How about these things:
What if you love those who love you?
"For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even
the tax collectors do the same?
Matt 5:46
What if you love your father and your mother?
He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy
of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matt 10:37
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a
workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of
truth. 2 Tim 2:15
Jesus said:
"If you love me, you will obey what
I command
John 14: 15
We know that there are Christians that don't demonstrate
the traits
that I have described above (none do perfectly). And I know that there are
non-believers that act very "nicely", and morally, that aren't
It is true that Christians aren't perfect, they are just forgiven.
But they will (more and more) act accordingly out of
gratitude for what Christ has done for them.
We pray you will recognize your desperate situation without
God, repent of your sin, and turn to Him.
