Knots on the Web

Over the last few years I've become very interested in
knots. A properly tied
knot is generally distinguished by its functionality, simplicity and the ease
with which it can be untied.
One of my favorites is the "Monkey's Fist." You
remember that parable...about how the entrapping quality of greed.

The
film Fargo opens with the statement: "This is a true story.
The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request
of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the
rest has been told exactly as it occurred."
But it's not true.
Did you know that? Did you know that the nursery rhyme
"Sing a Song of Sixpence" is actually a coded message for recruiting
pirates?

The
Girl in the Picture
For those who came of age during the Viet Nam war, one of the
defining images of our maturity is a black-and-white photo of a little Asian girl
running down a dirt road. She is naked, screaming, her arms held away from
her body, her skin burning from napalm.
Click here to find out what became of that girl. It is a
very heartening story, a tribute to the quirkiness of fate, the generosity of
her spirit, and the way of forgiveness.

Music!

About thirty years ago, I bought a Yamaha nylon-string classical
guitar and learned a few folk songs. I've carried that guitar and those
few songs with me ever since.
For my birthday this year, my wife bought me a beautiful Fender
steel-stringed accoustic.
I get it out most every night to play while watching the 10
o'clock local news. Mostly songs from long ago...the words and guitar
chords found on a couple of websites.
Guitar Resources Tablature
catalogues songs by performing artist.
Happy strumming.
