EDUCATION
Mary Jo Bane
taught human resources policy at the Kennedy School, and once had us write a
history of American welfare policy in three pages, double-spaced. She
later resigned from the Clinton Adminstration in protest of welfare reform
efforts. Whether or not you agree with her assessment of welfare reform,
Bane's courage and conviction have to be admired.

Authored and published the Kansas Environmental Almanac on the World
Wide Web. Offered commentaries for KANU, the local National Public Radio
affiliate. Spoke on environmental issues to such groups as Leadership
Lawrence, the League of Women Voters, the Heartland Chapter of the Certified
Hazardous Materials Managers, various classes at the University of Kansas, and
the Sierra Club. Served as Vice Chair of the Lawrence Community Development
Block Grant Advisory Committee.
